In 1885 Francesco Trussoni from Gallo d’Alba was already a master of the still. He had the brilliant idea of creating Grappa from Barolo, the first single grape Grappa in history. In 1922 the company was taken over by Mario Montanaro and his wife Angela Trussoni. With their son Giuseppe, they perfected their production processes by adopting steam alembics and were heirs to rigorous methods which made use of the precious experience and the influence of the Alba Wine School. Over a century, the family’s distillery became a unique “ecosystem” of know-how and it follows that Montanaro spirits have become the most sophisticated emblems of the values of the happy territory called Langa, encompassing a variety of historical and cultural aspects.
