THE WINE CELLAR

The Damilano family estate, one of the 100 year old wineries in Barolo, dates back to the 1890s when Giuseppe Borgogno, great grandfather of the current generation, started harvesting and vinifying the grapes on his property. The following generation, led by Giacomo Damilano, continued the work of Giuseppe by further developing the vineyards, constructing a modern cellar, and introducing numerous improvements to the vinification processes. In 1997, the family business was taken over by Giacomo’s three nephews: Guido, Mario, and Paolo Damilano, and has been in their hands ever since. The new generation aimed to produce the best possible expression of Nebbiolo, the primary variety of the Langhe, by focusing on the vineyards with the most suitable terroirs – the best of which was Cannubi. The Damilano family saw the great potential of the Cannubi vineyard, so they began the process of perfecting its wines. Today, they are proud to lay claim to two crus from this renowned hill: the Barolo Cannubi and the Barolo Cannubi “1752” Reserve.
