Le Ginestre is a winery located in the village of Grinzane Cavour, approximately 6 km from Alba. Lying in the outstanding wine-growing area of the Langhe hills in Piedmont, Grinzane Cavour is one of only 11 villages where Barolo can be produced. The view from the Ginestre hill ranges over a series of gentle hills stretching out into the distance. Here the vineyard shapes the architecture of the landscape, which merges with the culture of the wine - Barolo - that originated here and continues to encapsulate the area’s appeal in a glass. During the reign of Emmanuel II in the XVIII century most of the land around Grinzane Castle belonged to Count Camillo Benso of Cavour, the political architect of the Unification of Italy, who was Mayor of our commune for 17 years. When the estate was sold, the land was purchased by a number of local farmers, including our forebears. In 1980, Franco Audasso took over this smallholding and began to sell his wines with the help of his wife, Giulia Vacchetti. They were later joined in the family business by their children, Gian Luca and Barbara.
