THE WINE CELLAR
The Montalbera winery, managed by the Morando family, was founded in 1983. Today the winery is surrounded by 160 hectares of their own vines planted in a circular shape and entirely on a hillside. Eighty two hectares are planted to Ruchè which corresponds to 60% of the whole denomination. Other varieties are Barbera d’Asti, Viogner e Grignolino (or 12% of the global producton of Grignolio d’Asti). One of the peculiarities that has always distinguished Montalbera in the Piedmont landscape is that it sits between the three great viticultural zones: Monferrato and the Langa (Castiglione Tinella, hosts around 15 hectares of vines planted to Moscato d’Asti and Castglione Falletto with 3 hectares of Nebbiolo vines used for the production of Barolo).
