Description
A Doc wine (as per Ministerial Decree of November 22, 1994) bringing together different wines produced in several towns around Asti and Alesssandria. When there are no further indications, it refers to Monferrato Rosso and Monferrato Bianco, produced with respectively red-berry and white-berry grapes (both non-aromatic and authorised). Besides these two varieties, there are several others, including Dolcetto, Freisa, Cortese and Chiaretto (ciaret), rosé wine made from different grapes (Barbera, Bonarda, Dolcetto, Freisa, etc.).

Monferrato bianco Doc
Grape variety: non-aromatic white grapes grown in recommended or authorised vineyards.
Minimum alcohol content: 10% vol
Monferrato Cortese Doc
Grape variety: Cortese from the 85% to 100%; while the remaining 15% is made from non-aromatic grapes grown in recommended or authorised vineyards.
Minimum alcohol content: 10,5% vol.
Grape variety: non-aromatic white grapes grown in recommended or authorised vineyards.
Minimum alcohol content: 10% vol
Monferrato Cortese Doc
Grape variety: Cortese from the 85% to 100%; while the remaining 15% is made from non-aromatic grapes grown in recommended or authorised vineyards.

Monferrato Bianco Doc is a perfect match with hot and cold appetizers, the main dishes of Piedmontese cuisine and white meat. The aged versions are perfect with cheese. Better served at 12-13 °C. Cortese Monferrato Doc is excellent as an aperitif, accompanying light meals, appetizers, risotto and delicate fish courses.
